Northumberland Photography Tour

03rd - 07th April, 2024

3 Places Remaining

€1,500.00 - €300.00 Deposit

Northumberland is truly beautiful and provides a multitude of subject matter from a photographers perspective. Lindisfarne, Holy Island, Bamburgh, and Dunstanburgh Castles are among the many iconic locations we will visit on this workshop. Northumberlands has many castles which provide breathtaking and dramatic focal points when capturing the wider views of this stunning coastline. As Northumberlan’s coast faces east, it is ideal for capturing sunrise.

The unspoiled coastal areas of Northumberland boast beautiful white sandy beaches that are  are edged with tall Marram grass. From our base at The Victoria Hotel in Bamburgh we are only a five minute walk to Bamburgh beach its self. My previous workshops have been based here, and it puts us in prime location to easily reach all our desired locations North and South.

During our workshop we will aim to visit the following locations:

  • Holy Island & Lindisfarne Castle
  • Amble
  • Blyth, South Beach
  • Craster Harbour
  • Embleton Bay
  • Bamburgh Castle
  • Sycamore Gap, Hadrian’s Wall
  • St. Mary's Island and Lighthouse Whitley Bay
  • Spittal Beach
  • Berwick Upon Tweed
  • Tynemouth Pier and Lighthouse
  • Alynmouth
  • Alnwick

From our base in Bamburgh we will travel between Berwick Upon Tweed in the North to Roker in the South. We will also travel East to the famous Hadrians Wall to photograph the iconic Lone Oak Tree at Sycamore Gap.

If travelling from Ireland, you can travel in our minibus with me. I will be travelling the day before on Tuesday  2nd of April taking the 2pm ferry from Belfast to Cairnryan. We will be travelling Premium with Stena Plus, for the most comfortable experience. The additional fee for this option is €150 per person. Returning on the 11.30am ferry on Monday 8th of April getting in at 1.45pm. Please note: Ferry times may vary.

Pick up will be available from a number of points from Cork city to Belfast via Dublin:

Tuesday 2nd of April

Departing Cork city (Silver Springs Clayton Hotel) 7.30am

Departing Dublin (Maldron Hotel at the Red Cow) 10.30am

Pick up is also available at Lusk and Castlebellingham Apple Green Service stations on route to Belfast.

This option involves an extra 2 overnight stays (on the way to and from the ferry) we can book these for you and inform you of the cost. We will be staying in the Newcastle area on way over and Stranraer area on return, hotels are very reasonably priced.

One advantage of this option is you can bring that extra bag without having to worry and you can sit back and enjoy the journey! We will arrive back in Ireland on Monday the 8th of April, where you will be returned to your pick up point.

Flights to Newcastle are very reasonably priced, if flying is your preferred option.

Northumberland Photography Tour

Testimonials

Here are a selection of testimonials from previous participants which took place on this tour/workshop.

I went to Northumberland on a five day workshop with Rodney last weekend. From the moment we left Dublin everything was meticulously planned to give us the maximum locations, a great variety of landscape/seascape types, great learning experiences on light, balance and composition. Every aspect of the workshop had been researched in great detail down to the cafes we stopped in for lunch! Each day we were driven to great vantage points where we could make the most of the stunning scenery. We got great care and tuition and had a thoroughly enjoyable experience with great company! I would not hesitate to recommend this workshop to anyone and will be back with Rodney to many of the other great locations he has to offer.
