Lofoten Islands Photography Workshop

12th - 19th February, 2023

Join us on a week long adventure to Norway's Lofoten Islands within the boundaries of the Arctic Circle, Lofoten is one of the world's northernmost populated regions. Lofoten is an area of unforgettable scenery, majestic alpine mountain peaks, Artic fjords, scenic beaches and small fishing settlements.

We will be based in Ramberg, the capital of Flakstad for the duration of the trip. Ramberg is ideally situated close to many of the beautiful locations we will be visiting.

We will shoot each day from dawn to dusk taking breaks in between whilst maximising our time in Lofoten.

With the right weather conditions, each night offers the opportunity to witness the phenomenol Aurora Borealis aka Northern Lights. This time of year offers great potential to capture natures beautiful show of light. Lofoten with its unspoilt Artic nature is a photographers dream.

A selection of Locations we will visit include:

Reine (known for its traditional rorbu fishing cabins. These charming huts are built on land, using stilts, perched high above the water)

Uttakliev (Uttakliev Beach is where we will photograph The Dragons Eye. A famous natural rock formation found along this beautiful shoreline)

Skagsanden Beach  (Skagsanden has become an iconic beach on the Lofoten islands. The beach is known for its unique patterns from the rivers running into the ocean and the black sand which mixes with the white sand)

Sakrisoy (This small island is situated at the foot of Olstind, one of Lofoten's most iconic mountains)

Rambergstranda Beach

Unstad (This beautiful beach set amongst stunning scenery is known as the heart of the Norwegian surf scene)

Lofoten Islands Photography Workshop

Here are a selection of testimonials from previous participants which took place on this tour/workshop.

Having attended several workshops with Rodney over the years, (Killarney/Northumberland/Lofoton Islands/Dingle), I can safely say that Rodney is a fantastic tutor, guide and workshop leader. Well organized, with every location visited and researched in advance, to identify great locations for the best lighting and photo opportunities. His attention to detail, encouraging positive manner and willingness to spend time with each participant, regardless of whether you are a beginner or have significant photographic experience, is exceptional. Nothing is ever too much trouble and there is always a plan B (or C/D) if the weather or circumstances change!

When travelling overseas, the logistics are all taken care of and the accommodation comfortable and suitable. Rodney’s energy, passion for photography, his ability to explain simply what makes a great image and how to approach composition and work with available light is inspiring and builds skill and confidence.

On each trip, in my experience, the group worked very well together, and not only did we work long days, but had great fun and lots of laughter!

I would highly recommend Rodney’s workshops. They provide a great way to improve you photography, while also visiting beautiful locations, joining like minded individuals with a top class tutor and guide! I will definitely be signing up again.
